Bills 2. 01. 4 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch online. The Green Bay Packers are in the hunt for the No. NFC playoffs. In order to obtain it, they will likely need a win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Other than perhaps the Seattle Seahawks, no NFC team has been hotter since the start of November than the Packers. 2014 Opponents The Green Bay Packers' opponents for next season have been determined. The official 2014 NFL schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in spring. The Packers’ opponents for 2014 are as follows: HOME: Chicago Bears, Detroit. Anyone with even a passing interest in the sport knows how dominant quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been. His nearly 1. 2: 1 touchdown- to- interception ratio is by far the best in the league, as is his passer rating of 1. Rodgers appears on track to win his second MVP award, joining Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as the only active players to win the honor multiple times. But Rodgers isn't the only part of Green Bay's offense having a spectacular year. Wideout Jordy Nelson has amassed 1,2. He also set an NFL record with seven touchdown catches of 4. Behind him, Randall Cobb stands just 2. He has 1. 0 touchdowns to go along with it. As for the Bills, their season has involved two starting quarterbacks, a multitude of injuries at running back and a fantastic first- year wideout. Second- year signal caller EJ Manuel struggled for the first quarter of the year. Though he showed promise as a rookie, Manuel proved unable to make the difficult downfield throws, forcing head coach Doug Marrone to make the switch to Kyle Orton. Orton hasn't been spectacular, but his steady presence has allowed rookie receiver Sammy Watkins to blossom. But the offense hasn't been the star for Buffalo. Led by Mario Williams, the Bills have allowed the fourth- fewest points in the NFL and rank fifth in turnover differential. Impressively, they lead the league in sacks with 4. There aren't many teams capable of slowing down Rodgers, but Buffalo might be one of the few that can challenge him. The Packers enter Sunday with a record of 1. The Bills come in at 7- 6. How to watch. Where: Ralph Wilson Stadium, Orchard Park, N. Y. When: 1 p. m. ETTV: Fox. Announcers: Justin Kutcher, David Diehl, Laura Okmin. Radio: Packers Radio Network, Bills Radio Network. NFL schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in spring. The Packers’ opponents for 2. HOME: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles AWAY: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks. Bills 2. 01. 4 picks and predictions: Green Bay favored by experts. The Green Bay Packers, fighting to stay ahead in the NFC North, take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The NFC North may be competitive, but it is only down to two teams. Both the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears are struggling, leaving the race to the Packers (1. Detroit Lions (9- 4). Green Bay will take on Detroit for the second time in Week 1. Detroit already beat the Packers once, back in Week 3, so this game against Buffalo is big. It's not going to be easy for the Packers, despite winning their last five games, as the Bills have been better than expected this year. Buffalo is 7- 6, tied for second place in the AFC East, though their best avenue to the playoffs at this point would be a Wild Card berth. They had won their past two games heading into Week 1. Denver Broncos, but couldn't keep up with Peyton Manning and one of the best offenses in the league. They'll have their hands full once again when they face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Rodgers is at the helm of the league's No. He's thrown 1. 6 touchdowns and no interceptions over Green Bay's five- game winning streak, and has 3. He's got a touchdown to interception ratio of 1. Tom Brady, 4. 2. 9). Of course, it's not surprising that experts think the Packers will win this game. Twelve of the 1. 3 experts picking for ESPN are going with Green Bay. All of the experts picking for CBS Sports are also picking the Packers. It's the same situation at FOX Sports. Here at SB Nation, all seven of the experts are going with the Packers. Ryan Van Bibber. Great Famine (Ireland) - Wikipedia. The Great Famine (Irish: an Gorta M. It is sometimes referred to, mostly outside Ireland, as the Irish Potato Famine, because about two- fifths of the population was solely reliant on this cheap crop for a number of historical reasons. During the famine, approximately one million people died and a million more emigrated from Ireland, causing the island's population to fall by between 2. The proximate cause of famine was Phytophthora infestans, a potato disease commonly known as potato blight, which ravaged potato crops throughout Europe during the 1. However, the impact in Ireland was disproportionate, as one third of the population was dependent on the potato for a range of ethnic, religious, political, social, and economic reasons, such as land acquisition, absentee landlords, and the Corn Laws, which all contributed to the disaster to varying degrees and remain the subject of intense historical debate. The famine was a watershed in the history of Ireland, which was then part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The famine and its effects permanently changed the island's demographic, political, and cultural landscape. For both the native Irish and those in the resulting diaspora, the famine entered folk memory. The already strained relations between many Irish and the British Crown soured further, heightening ethnic and sectarian tensions, and boosting Irish nationalism and republicanism in Ireland and among Irish emigrants in the United States and elsewhere. Causes and contributing factors. Since the Acts of Union in January 1. Ireland had been part of the United Kingdom with executive power lying in the hands of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland and Chief Secretary for Ireland, appointed by the British government. Ireland sent 1. 05 members of parliament to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, and Irishrepresentative peers elected 2. House of Lords. Between 1. Irish representatives were landowners or the sons of landowners. In the 4. 0 years that followed the union, successive British governments grappled with the problems of governing a country which had, as Benjamin Disraeli put it in 1. The laws had largely been reformed by 1. Roman Catholic Relief Act 1. Irish Catholics to again sit in parliament. Landlords and tenants. During the 1. 8th century, the . Rent collection was left in the hands of the landlords' agents, or middlemen. This assured the landlord of a regular income, and relieved them of direct responsibility, while leaving tenants open to exploitation by the middlemen. Catholics, the bulk of whom lived in conditions of poverty and insecurity despite Catholic emancipation in 1. Some of their estates were vast; for example, the Earl of Lucan owned over 6. Many of these landlords lived in England and were known as absentee landlords. They established a Royal Commission, chaired by the Earl of Devon, to enquire into the laws regarding the occupation of land. Daniel O'Connell described this commission as . In February 1. 84. Devon reported: It would be impossible adequately to describe the privations which they . There was no hereditary loyalty, feudal tie, or mitigating tradition of paternalism as existed in England (Ireland was a conquered country). The Earl of Clare observed of landlords that . The rents from Ireland were generally spent elsewhere; an estimated . They were described in evidence before the Commission as . The middlemen leased large tracts of land from the landlords on long leases with fixed rents, which they then sublet as they saw fit. They would split a holding into smaller and smaller parcels so as to increase the amount of rent they could obtain. Tenants could be evicted for reasons such as non- payment of rents (which were high), or the decision of a landlord to raise sheep instead of grain crops. The cottier paid his rent by working for the landlord. As any improvement made on a holding by a tenant became the property of the landlord when the lease expired or was terminated, the incentive to make improvements was limited. Most tenants had no security of tenure on the land; as tenants . The only exception to this arrangement was in Ulster where, under a practice known as . According to Woodham- Smith, the commission stated that . Woodham- Smith writes that, in these circumstances, . Holdings were so small that no crop other than potatoes would suffice to feed a family. Shortly before the famine the British government reported that poverty was so widespread that one- third of all Irish small holdings could not support their families after paying their rent, except by earnings of seasonal migrant labour in England and Scotland. Following the famine, reforms were implemented making it illegal to further divide land holdings. The 1. 84. 1 census showed a population of just over eight million. Two- thirds of those depended on agriculture for their survival, but they rarely received a working wage. They had to work for their landlords in return for the patch of land they needed to grow enough food for their own families. This was the system which forced Ireland and its peasantry into monoculture, since only the potato could be grown in sufficient quantity. The rights to a plot of land in Ireland could mean the difference between life and death in the early 1. The potato was introduced to Ireland as a garden crop of the gentry. By the late 1. 7th century, it had become widespread as a supplementary rather than a principal food because the main diet still revolved around butter, milk, and grain products. However, in the first two decades of the 1. Furthermore, a disproportionate share of the potatoes grown in Ireland were of a single variety, the Irish Lumper. The large dependency on this single crop, and the lack of genetic variability among the potato plants in Ireland, were two of the reasons why the emergence of Phytophthora infestans had such devastating effects in Ireland and less severe effects elsewhere in Europe. For the labourer, it was essentially a potato wage that shaped the expanding agrarian economy. The expansion of tillage led to an inevitable expansion of the potato acreage and an expansion of peasant farmers. By 1. 84. 1, there were over half a million peasant farmers, with 1. The principal beneficiary of this system was the English consumer. The Celtic grazing lands of.. Ireland had been used to pasture cows for centuries. The British colonised.. The British taste for beef had a devastating impact on the impoverished and disenfranchised people of.. Eventually, cows took over much of Ireland, leaving the native population virtually dependent on the potato for survival. The potato was also used extensively as a fodder crop for livestock immediately prior to the famine. Approximately 3. 3% of production, amounting to 5,0. General crop failures, through disease or frost, were recorded in 1. In 1. 82. 1 and 1. Munster and Connaught. In 1. 83. 0 and 1. Mayo, Donegal, and Galway suffered likewise. In 1. 83. 2, 1. 83. Ships from Baltimore, Philadelphia, or New York City could have brought diseased potatoes to European ports. Paddock suggests that it was transported on potatoes being carried to feed passengers on clipper ships sailing from America to Ireland. Once introduced, it spread rapidly. By mid- August 1. Europe; Belgium, The Netherlands, northern France, and southern England had all been stricken. On 1. 6 August 1. The Gardeners' Chronicle and Horticultural Gazette reported . A week later, on 2. On 1. 1 September, the Freeman's Journal reported on . Only when the crop was lifted in October did the scale of destruction become apparent. Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel wrote to Sir James Graham in mid- October that he found the reports . The Mansion House Committee in Dublin, to which hundreds of letters were directed from all over Ireland, claimed on 1. November 1. 84. 5 to have ascertained beyond the shadow of doubt that . By December, a third of a million destitute people were employed in public works. Seed potatoes were scarce in 1. Little had been sown, so, despite average yields, hunger continued. Since over three million Irish people were totally dependent on potatoes for food, hunger and famine were inevitable. Reaction in Ireland. The Corporation of Dublin sent a memorial to the Queen, . The Town Council of Belfast met and made similar suggestions, but neither body asked for charity, according to John Mitchel, one of the leading Repealers. Lord Heytesbury told them not to be alarmed, that they . One of the first things he suggested was the introduction of . O'Connell then pointed out the means used by the Belgian legislature during the same season: shutting their ports against the export of provisions, but opening them to imports. He suggested that, if Ireland had a domestic Parliament, the ports would be thrown open and the abundant crops raised in Ireland would be kept for the people of Ireland. O'Connell maintained that only an Irish parliament would provide for the people both food and employment, saying that a repeal of the Act of Union was a necessity and Ireland's only hope. Mitchel raised the issue of the . His view was that, however the government may differ about feeding the Irish people, . It established the widespread view that the treatment of the famine by the British was a deliberate murder of the Irish, and it contained the famous phrase: . Despite this, Ireland's elected representatives seemed powerless to act on the country's behalf as Members of the British Parliament. Whether it’s a new trend, a new restaurant or a new celebrity. Benioff had previously said that A Storm of Swords would need to be adapted in two seasons on account of its length. The constructed languages were developed by linguist David J. The Psychological gateway consists of an individual face- to- face interview and evaluation by a registered psychologist on factors related to successful job performance. The information evaluated also includes written psychological tests completed prior to the face- to- face interview. The results are valid for 1. Candidates are expected to demonstrate high levels of psychological resilience in response to past stressors and the ability to practice high levels of psychological self- care. Particular strengths must be demonstrated in the following areas: teamworkemotional self- controlconflict resolutiondecision making under stressability to understand other people's behaviour. Candidates with a history or prior diagnosis of a psychological or psychiatric condition, or who have been treated with medication or therapy for such conditions, will be asked to provide relevant information. Learning disabilities or attention deficit disorder may require additional testing and review of relevant medical information. Candidates with a current condition such as bipolar disorder, major depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders and other diagnoses leading to a psychiatric hospitalisation or requiring treatment will not meet the AFP's psychological standards. Use of psychotropic medication. If you're currently taking any form of psychotropic medication (prescription medication that is capable of affecting the mind, emotions or behavior), you will not clear the AFP Medical or Psychological Gateway. Examples of psychotropic medication include Zoloft, Cipramil, Prozac, Cymbalta, Mirtazapine, Effexor, Valium. If you have taken any form of psychotropic medication for more than one week in the last five years, you must bring a record of your medication history with you to the AFP Assessment Centre (if this is part of your recruitment process), the medical assessment and the psychological assessment. In general, you will need to have successfully withdrawn from psychotropic medication (under supervision from the relevant registered medical practitioner) and be symptom free for a period of time equal to the amount of time you have been on the medication. In other words, if you were taking medication for a period of six months, you need to demonstrate symptom free functioning for a period of six months after ceasing medication. There is a cap of two years on the period you must demonstrate symptom free functioning. For example, if you were taking medication for a period of two years, you need to demonstrate symptom free functioning for a period of two years after ceasing medication. If however you were taking medication for a period of more than two years, you still only need to demonstrate symptom free functioning for a period of two years after ceasing the medication. It is very important to note that if you are currently taking psychotropic medication and are considering withdrawing from the medication in the future, this decision must be made in consultation with a registered medical practitioner. Your withdrawal must be managed and supervised by the relevant registered medical practitioner. Health psychology - Wikipedia. Health psychology is the study of psychological and behavioral processes in health, illness, and healthcare. Psychological factors can affect health directly. For example, chronically occurring environmental stressors affecting the hypothalamic. Behavioral factors can also affect a person's health. For example, certain behaviors can, over time, harm (smoking, excessive alcohol consumption) or enhance health (exercise, diet low in saturated fat). In other words, health psychologists understand health to be the product not only of biological processes (e. In addition, health psychologists can help train other healthcare professionals (e. Health psychologists work in a variety of settings: alongside other medical professionals in hospitals and clinics, in public health departments working on large- scale behavior change and health promotion programs, and in universities and medical schools where they teach and conduct research. Although its early beginnings can be traced to the field of clinical psychology. The four divisions include clinical health psychology, public health psychology, community health psychology, and critical health psychology. This conceptualization, which has been labeled the biopsychosocial model, views health and illness as the product of a combination of factors including biological characteristics (e. Psychologists who strive to understand how biological, behavioral, and social factors influence health and illness are called health psychologists. Health psychologists use their knowledge of psychology and health to promote general well- being and understand physical illness. Health psychologists work with many different health care professionals (e. Many health psychologists focus on prevention research and interventions designed to promote healthier lifestyles and try to find ways to encourage people to improve their health. For example, they may help people to lose weight or stop smoking. For example, they may advise doctors about better ways to communicate with their patients . While many health psychologists provide clinical services as part of their duties, others function in non- clinical roles, primarily involving teaching and research. Leading journals include Health Psychology, the Journal of Health Psychology, the British Journal of Health Psychology. Cl. HP is one of many specialty practice areas for clinical psychologists. It is also a major contributor to the prevention- focused field of behavioral health and the treatment- oriented field of behavioral medicine. Clinical practice includes education, the techniques of behavior change, and psychotherapy. In some countries, a clinical health psychologist, with additional training, can become a medical psychologist and, thereby, obtain prescription privileges. Public health psychology (PHP)PHP is population oriented. A major aim of PHP is to investigate potential causal links between psychosocial factors and health at the population level. Public health psychologists present research results to educators, policy makers, and health care providers in order to promote better public health. PHP is allied to other public health disciplines including epidemiology, nutrition, genetics and biostatistics. Some PHP interventions are targeted toward at- risk population groups (e. Community health psychology (Co. HP)Co. HP investigates community factors that contribute to the health and well- being of individuals who live in communities. Co. HP also develops community- level interventions that are designed to combat disease and promote physical and mental health. The community often serves as the level of analysis, and is frequently sought as a partner in health- related interventions. Critical health psychology (Cr. HP)Cr. HP is concerned with the distribution of power and the impact of power differentials on health experience and behavior, health care systems, and health policy. Cr. HP prioritizes social justice and the universal right to health for people of all races, genders, ages, and socioeconomic positions. A major concern is health inequalities. The critical health psychologist is an agent of change, not simply an analyst or cataloger. A leading organization in this area is the International Society of Critical Health Psychology. Health psychology, like other areas of applied psychology, is both a theoretical and applied field. Health psychologists employ diverse research methods. These methods include controlled randomized experiments, quasi- experiments, longitudinal studies, time- series designs, cross- sectional studies, case- control studies, qualitative research as well as action research. Health psychologists study a broad range of variables including cardiovascular disease, (cardiac psychology), smoking habits, the relation of religious beliefs to health, alcohol use, social support, living conditions, emotional state, social class, and more. Some health psychologists treat individuals with sleep problems, headaches, alcohol problems, etc. Other health psychologists work to empower community members by helping community members gain control over their health and improve quality of life of entire communities. Origins and development. Health psychology began to emerge as a distinct discipline of psychology in the United States in the 1. In the mid- 2. 0th century there was a growing understanding in medicine of the effect of behavior on health. For example, the Alameda County Study, which began in the 1. Medical psychology, however, was a relatively small field, primarily aimed at helping patients adjust to illness. In 1. 96. 9, William Schofield prepared a report for the APA entitled The Role of Psychology in the Delivery of Health Services. One of the few psychologists working in this area at the time, Schofield proposed new forms of education and training for future psychologists. The APA, responding to his proposal, in 1. At the first divisional conference, Matarazzo delivered a speech that played an important role in defining health psychology. He defined the new field in this way, . In 1. 98. 6, the BPS established a Division of Health Psychology. The European Health Psychology Society was also established in 1. Similar organizations were established in other countries, including Australia and Japan. In the US, post- doctoral level health psychology training programs were established for individuals who completed a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. A number of relevant trends coincided with the emergence of health psychology, including: Epidemiological evidence linking behavior and health. Marie Johnston and John Weinman argued in a letter to the BPS Bulletin that there was a great need for a Health Psychology Section. In December 1. 98. BPS London Conference, with Marie Johnston as chair. The awarding of divisional status meant that the individual training needs and professional practice of health psychologists were recognized, and members were able to obtain chartered status with the BPS. The BPS went on to regulate training and practice in health psychology until the regulation of professional standards and qualifications was taken over by statutory registration with the Health Professions Council in 2. They also recommend ways to improve health- care policy. They have also studied the association between illness and individual characteristics. For example, health psychology has found a relation between the personality characteristics of thrill seeking, impulsiveness, hostility/anger, emotional instability, and depression, on one hand, and high- risk driving, on the other. The biopsychosocial model can help in understanding the relation between contextual factors and biology in affecting health. Physical addiction impedes smoking cessation. Some research suggests that seductive advertising also contributes to psychological dependency on tobacco. Health psychologists employ cognitive behavior therapy and applied behavior analysis (also see behavior modification) for that purpose. Preventing illness. Health psychologists try to help people to lead a healthy life by developing and running programmes which can help people to make changes in their lives such as stopping smoking, reducing the amount of alcohol they consume, eating more healthily, and exercising regularly. Those least able to afford tobacco products consume them most. Tobacco provides individuals with a way of controlling aversive emotional states accompanying daily experiences of stress that characterize the lives of deprived and vulnerable individuals. Moreover, many individuals are often unable to apply their knowledge of health practices owing to everyday pressures and stresses. A common example of population- based attempts to motivate the smoking public to reduce its dependence on cigarettes is anti- smoking campaigns. Health psychologists have worked to understand why some people do not seek early screenings or immunizations, and have used that knowledge to develop ways to encourage people to have early health checks for illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. For example, Kompier and his colleagues. An individual who becomes seriously ill or injured faces many different practical stressors. These stressors include problems meeting medical and other bills, problems obtaining proper care when home from the hospital, obstacles to caring for dependents, the experience of having one's sense of self- reliance compromised, gaining a new, unwanted identity as that of a sick person, and so on. These stressors can lead to depression, reduced self- esteem, etc. When there is little hope of recovery, health psychologist therapists can improve the quality of life of the patient by helping the patient recover at least some of his or her psychological well- being. These avenues of research expand the scope of health psychology beyond the level of individual health to an examination of the social and economic determinants of health both within and between regions and nations. Pyrexia - Feast Of Iniquity (album review )Review Summary: Pyrexia's fourth effort wears its influences on its sleeve, and, unfortunately, fails to move far beyond. Having become a genre noted for its diversity and experimentation, it is difficult to argue Pyrexia. Formed in 1. 99. 0, the year succeeding the release of the seminal Altars of Madness, it is clear that the titular Feast of Iniquity is hardly a dynamic progression. Sharper production and the occasional spark of inspiration aside, Pyrexia. However, it is to its credit that this does not fault it as an enjoyable- if imperfect- listen. The influences of death metal in its nascence are abundant throughout Feast of Iniquity. Riffs offer a balance between weighty crunch and twinges of thrash, evidenced on notable opener The Pendulum; the effect is reminiscent of early Malevolent Creation, often leading to fresh and interesting song structures. Drumming is also solid throughout, complementing the guitars with engaging, although not innovative, patterns. Interesting shifts in tempo and time signature from all instruments allow Pyrexia. It is here that a spot of variation enlivens their otherwise template death metal sound. Pyrexia - 'Feast of In Iniquity' CD, another slab of pure death metal attack at its finest from NY veterans Pyrexia. The album features Doug Bohn and Dave Culross on drums and was mixed and mastered by Zeus of Planet Z studios.Unfortunately, such welcome diversions are few and far between; diversity tends to be mistaken for the differences between slow chug and repetitive shred. Vocal performance ranges from average to questionable, styles varying from gutturals to more contemporary roars. In both cases, nothing captures attention- the lyrics are generic, if serviceable, and complement the instruments without overly impressing. On occasion, when taking a more traditional line, this trend is bucked- although these moments are few in number. This is Feast of Iniquity. That is not to label the music disinteresting, as Feast of Iniquity proves a technically competent and cohesive offering. However, it is to say that, excluding the unique Panzer Tank Lobotomy, it stands as something old rather than something new. For a fan of traditional death metal and one not predisposed against a smattering of modern influences, Pyrexia. There is enough here for Feast of Iniquity to warrant a cursory listen, but little that will encourage the listener to return. Often tantalising, but more commonly painting by numbers, Pyrexia have birthed a solid but uninspired effort- an entertaining distraction, but just don.
